Habilitační přednáška a obhajoba habilitační práce před vědeckou radou fakulty na téma: Bateriové inovace a výzvy pro CubeSaty ve vesmírném prostředí / Energizing Space: CubeSat Battery Innovations and Challenges.

Abstrakt:
Many modern services depend on satellites. Recently, small satellite platforms have gained considerable attention, and CubeSats have emerged as a particularly important technology thanks to their standardization, cost-effectiveness, and scalability. A crucial component of these systems are batteries, ensuring reliable operation during eclipse periods, peak loads, and other mission-critical conditions.
This habilitation lecture presents research on batteries in CubeSats, describes major challenges and the development of practical solutions. The work combines telemetry analysis with the development of state-of-charge estimation methods and modeling tools for lifetime prediction, battery pack design, and reliability assessment. These results open new possibilities for advanced diagnostics and energy management strategies that can extend battery lifetime and improve mission reliability. In addition, the lecture discusses the investigation of novel battery chemistries aimed at enabling higher performance and new functionalities in future space applications.
