9. 3. 2020

Dear Colleagues,
Regarding Rector's Order No. 07 / 2020 reduction of the risk of coronavirus infection (is on the web) all teaching at FEE CTU in Prague is cancelled for 14 days. At this time all lectures, seminars and other forms of contact teaching are cancelled. If necessary, the Academic Calendar will be adjusted. Furthermore, all social events are cancelled, and work from home is preferred according to the instructions of the supervisor. We ask students to limit all visits in CTU buildings as much as possible. Please use email for necessary communication. All FEE staff and students are obliged to keep up-to-date information on this website

prof. Mgr. Petr Páta, Ph.D.
Dean

updated rector's order No. 7/2020 — teaching suspended till March 22, 2020 ••

6. 3. 2020

PLEASE NOTE: The high-risk areas for the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 have been extended to cover the whole of Italy. The rector of the university has imposed a ban on all work and study trips to Italy, and calls on all students and staff of CTU in Prague also not to go to Italy privately, in order to slow down the spread of the epidemic.

2. 3. 2020

Fortunately, the person who visited the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was not in direct contact with the infected person. The Hygienic station of the capital city of Prague assessed the risk as insignificant. From tomorrow, March 3, 2020, teaching and other activities will continue according to normal rules without any restrictions.

Concerning the worsened epidemiological situation, the Rector of CTU extended the list of localities to which it is not possible to send employees and students to: China incl. Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Iran and Italy (Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy, Piedmont, and Veneto).

All employees who have returned from the above mentioned areas are obliged to report to the Dean's secretariat (sekretariat@fel.cvut.cz).

Hygienic measures have been systematically implemented in the FEL premises as recommended by the hygiene station, in particular, increased disinfection of surfaces and sanitary facilities using virucidal agents. All cartridges contain antibacterial soap, and disposable towels are available. In some places, contactless containers with disinfectants are installed.

2. 3. 2020

Based on the closure of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering buildings, all teaching at CTU FEE will be cancelled today (Monday, March 2, 2020). Employees are recommended to work from home, if possible. The reason is that the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering visited the man who could come into contact with coronavirus infected person.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this measures. We will keep you informed about further developments.

26. 2. 2020

Based on the results of the State Security Council (February 25, 2010), the government:

  1. travel to northern Italy is not recommended
  2. the Prime Minister also stated that any travel abroad should be considered
  3. those who are traveling should register in the DROZD system

All staff and students are recommended not to travel abroad until the situations stabilize.

We are now expanding the list of areas sent yesterday to include Milan and Iran. All persons who were in the last 14 days in Milano or Iran must report immediately to the Dean's Secretariat (sekretariat@fel.cvut.cz).

Up-to-date information on disease areas is provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: https://www.mzv.cz/jnp/cz/cestujeme/index.html, and on the faculty website: https://fel.cvut.cz/en/aktuality/2020/coronavirus-2019-ncov-instructions-from-ctu-in-prague

25. 2. 2020

Due to the rapid negative development in Italy, where at present about 270 people are infected with coronavirus, areas, where Covid - 19 are currently present, are closed. The list of closed areas contains Codogno, Castiglione d'Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Maleo, Fombio, Bertonico, Castelgerundo, Terranova dei Passerini, Somaglia and San Fiorano - which is at the main intersection of the A21 and A1 SW motorways from Milan north of Piacenza. Due to the expected larger movement of people (CTU students and staff) in northern Italy, thanks to the Spring Break, we must take further steps to anti-epidemic security.

The Prague Hygienic Station requires: “If any of your students or employees have been in these areas in the last 14 days, they must restrict their movement and restrict attendance in classes, library, study room, etc.”

This requirement is to some extent incomplete. Therefore, the CTU management has specified the procedure we should follow:

Persons who were in the last 14 days in areas Codogno, Castiglione d'Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Maleo, Fombio, Bertonico, Castelgerundo, Terranova dei Passerini, Somaglia and San Fiorano, or passing through these areas (for example, they stopped at a large Somaglia gas station on A1) are at risk of being exposed to coronavirus infection.

All these persons must report immediately to the Dean's Secretariat (sekretariat@fel.cvut.cz). Secretariat also passes the information to the CTU coordination point (Mrs. Kinkalová). It is necessary to report the place and date of the stay.

Such persons are restricted to stay in the school premises for 14 days, in particular, to attend classes, visit canteens, libraries, study rooms and other common areas of the University. It is necessary to isolate for 14 days from contact with other persons (as much as possible). There are several ways to do this:

  • for academics employees who can work in the form of a home office, this option will be used
  • THP, etc. workers stay at home (with full pay)
  • students will be excused from lessons for two weeks after returning from the restricted area (it will be necessary to prove their presence in the area or passage through the area). These students will be allowed to study by distance way and use self-study materials. Students staying at the dormitory should contact The Service Facilities Administration of the Czech Technical University in Prague management and move to the isolated floor of the hotel at Masaryk dormitory.

If these persons at risk find any flu or respiratory symptoms, must report to our contact point immediately and contact the doctor !!!

An infection that is spreading from the city of Wuhan, China. This influenza-like infection can be highly dangerous, especially for people with a weakened organism. Coronavirus is transmitted from person-to-person after close contact. It is a so-called contageous infection. Illness does not appear immediately, but only after a period of 7 – 14 days. After arrival from a high-risk area, use protection mask, 7 days of isolation are recommended, within which time any signs of a respiratory illness should appear, i.e. shortness of breath, coughing, and high temperature.

Preventive measures – Reduce your risk of coronavirus infection

  • Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water
  • When coughing and sneezing cover your mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – throw tissue away immediately and wash your hands
  • Avoid close contact with anyone that has fever and cough
  • Thoroughly cook meat and eggs

If you show symptoms of a respiratory illness (shortness of breath, coughing, and high temperature)

  • Remain at home or dormitory and avoid contact with other people
  • Contact a doctor or a medical emergency centre and provide further information about any time spent in a high-risk location.
