Dear student,

Allow me to welcome you with this personal letter to the 1st year of bachelor's studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague.

As you know, the epidemiological situation prevented us from starting standard teaching and we are forced to switch to distance teaching immediately. This measure aims primarily to protect your health, the health of your loved ones and also the health of your teachers. I believe that if we all follow all the necessary measures, the situation will soon return to normal and the faculty will live its normal life again.

Studying at university is different from high school. It will place high demands on you and require personal responsibility. The current situation is complicated for all of us and has caused you not to start the school year in the lecture hall, but at home or in the dormitory at your computers. Even in the current dynamic situation, we will do our utmost to ensure that your transition to university takes place without major complications.

All important information can be found on the faculty website. Your teachers will inform you about the form of teaching and you will have all the necessary instructions for teaching in the Moodle or CourseWare system; or possibly at your schedules. Distance learning will take place in the environment of MS Teams or a similar tool. If you are unsure about anything, do not hesitate to contact your teachers.

Part of the entrance to the faculty is also matriculation, which we usually organize in the Bethlehem Chapel. Matriculation in the student's life represents an important moment by which the student is introduced to the academic community not only of the faculty, but also of the entire university, ie CTU. Students promise their vows towards their studies at the university during the ceremony; You have already confirmed your consent by signing the registration.

Let me state the wording of the matriculation oath here:

I swear that I will dutifully fulfil all obligations of a student of the  Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague. In agreement with my conscience I will respect the decisions of the Academic Senate of CTU and of the faculty, of the rector, the dean and other academic representatives of the university.

In my actions will strive to protect the good name of the Czech Technical University in Prague and I will not perform any acts that would damage its reputation.

Dear student,

On behalf of the entire teaching staff, I wish you to be successful in your studies and thus achieve all your goals that you came to the Faculty with. I look forward to meeting you in three years' time during your graduation ceremony at the Bethlehem Chapel.

I wish you a successful start not only to the beginning of the academic year, but also to your academic life.

prof. Mgr. Petr Páta, Ph.D.
Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU in Prague
