The reconstruction of the entrance area of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the CTU in Prague-Dejvice will start during the week since 26 August. Due to the reconstruction, which includes the installation of turnstiles, the main entrance from Technická Street will be temporarily closed.
The construction works will continue until 5 November 2024. The entrance for employees and visitors will be through the A4 side entrance from Šolínova Street. The entrance for students will be through the Faculty of Engineering CTU. However, the idea of making the side entrance accessible to everyone is currently being considered. Employees and students of FEE CTU can get acquainted with the planned design of the new and modern main entrance through visualizations.
Installing turnstiles at the main entrance is one of the measures the faculty is implementing to increase security on its premises. The solution will also allow controlled access for visitors to public events that FEL CTU regularly organizes. The aim is to prevent unauthorized access to the faculty. The buildings of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of CTU are the only buildings in the Dejvice Campus that do not have a secured entrance. The project is closely coordinated with the secretary of the Faculty of Engineering, Ing. Jiří Zápotocký. The Faculty of Engineering will implement similar measures next year.
The FEE started working on the modernization of the entrance hall in Autumn 2023. An architectural study was made and a project was subsequently developed. The reasons why the renovation work will continue during the winter semester are due to the legal deadlines for appeals of the participants in the public tender, which FEE must respect. The Faculty is a public institution subject to Public Procurement. It has fixed deadlines for the selection procedure. Because of the completion, clarification, and subsequent withdrawal of one of the tender participants, the implementation deadline was postponed. Noisy works during the reconstruction are scheduled for evening hours and weekends.
The project will be partly financed by a grant from the Ministry of Education.
