In the AS CTU elections, one student representative from FEL will be elected for a two-year term. In the AS FEL elections, five students will be elected for a two-year term and thirteen academic staff members for a three-year term.
Elected senators of AS FEL have various powers, such as electing the dean every four years, selecting the scientific council, and overseeing the faculty's budget. The senators elected to AS CTU in these elections will vote for the new rector next autumn. With the role of senator comes responsibility.
Each elected representative has the opportunity to actively participate in shaping the faculty/university and advocate for their own topics with which they are running. "I worked closely on creating the role of ombudsman, created the participatory budget 'FEL Tobě, Ty FELu', and established 'TeST', which evolved into the 'Teacher's Club', a series of 13 discussions where teachers share their experiences," says Ph.D. student Ing. Martin Zoula, who does not intend to defend his mandate as a student representative in AS FEL this year. "Looking back on those two years in AS FEL, I am very satisfied, even though it ultimately required a bit more effort than I initially wanted. I look forward to the new senators and their work! At FEL, we are a broad community of students and researchers, and the senate is the place where we can influence and shape its functioning," he assessed his tenure.
