The event will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will offer a rich program full of scientific experiences, sports activities, and family entertainment. It is intended for the general public, so that people of all ages can try unusual challenges and enjoy a day full of inspiration and movement.
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague will once again be involved in the program this year. You can look forward to experts from the Department of Measurement, who will prepare interactive demonstrations of their technologies.
Researchers at Petřín will demonstrate acoustic shooting detectors, GNSS jamming detectors and jammers, unmanned vehicles including a model rocket with thrust vectoring, a convertoplane, and an Arduino quadcopter in demo mode. There will also be a locator for indoor use in firefighting equipment, software-defined instruments for laboratory experiments such as a voltmeter and oscilloscope, Lego robots, and student creations, including interactive demonstrations, among which the popular game of ping pong will not be missing.
"Events such as Conquer Petřín give us the opportunity to present the results of our research to the general public and show that modern technologies from FEL CTU have a practical impact on society's safety," said Prof. Jan Holub, head of the Department of Measurement at FEL CTU, which has been developing technologies for the defense and security industry for a long time.
The event will offer a unique opportunity to take a closer look at the technologies our students and researchers work with in their research and teaching.
Run to the Petřín Lookout Tower: who will conquer the 299 steps
The main attraction of the event is the race to be the fastest to run to the top of the Petřín Lookout Tower. Competitors will face 299 steps and the chance to make history. The current record is held by a member of the Signal Corps from Olomouc with a time of 0:56 seconds – and so far, no one has managed to beat it. The race will be held in two blocks: in the morning between 9:00 and 11:00 and in the afternoon between 14:00 and 16:00. Competitors will not only have the opportunity to exceed their limits and experience an unforgettable view of Prague, but also receive a diploma and light refreshments.
But the Signal Corps Challenge is not just about running. A varied accompanying program for children and adults, including technology demonstrations, will be prepared directly on the premises. The Signal Corps and other branches of the Czech Army will be presenting themselves.
We look forward to your participation!
