New professors Martin Hromčík and Martin Saska from FEE CTU received their appointment decrees from President Pavel

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU has two new professors. The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, appointed Doc. Ing. Martin Hromčík, Ph.D., and Doc. Ing. Martin Saska, Dr. rer. nat., both in the field of cybernetics and robotics. They received their appointment decrees on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at a ceremony in the Great Hall of Karolinum, attended by Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports Robert Plaga.

A total of 69 new professors received their appointment decrees, having been nominated by the scientific and artistic councils of their respective universities.

President Petr Pavel called on those present to focus on increasing the proportion of university graduates in society, an indicator in which the Czech Republic lags significantly behind the EU average. Both newly appointed professors from FEE CTU have long been involved in popularizing science.

In his speech, Minister of Education Robert Plaga emphasized the role of professors not only as leading experts, but also as leaders of academic teams: "A professor is not just a co-author, but a leader. Someone who can motivate younger colleagues and build teams. I would be very happy to see this approach become the standard at Czech universities," he said.

The appointment of Professors Martin Hromčík and Martin Saska is further confirmation of the strong position of the CTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering in the field of cybernetics and robotics, which has long been one of its key research and educational pillars.

The CTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering warmly congratulates both new professors.

Profiles of the new professors

Prof. Ing. Martin Hromčík, Ph.D.

Prof. Martin Hromčík works at the Department of Control Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU, where he has long been involved in research, particularly in the modeling, control, and intelligent behavior of robotic systems. In his professional work, he focuses on advanced control methods, sensory integration, and autonomous systems. He participates in teaching key subjects in the field of robotics and cybernetics and systematically supervises doctoral students. He is the author and co-author of a number of professional publications in international scientific journals and conference proceedings and is actively involved in national and international research projects.

Prof. Ing. Martin Saska, Dr. rer. nat.

Prof. Martin Saska works at the Department of Cybernetics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague and is an internationally recognized expert on autonomous multi-robot systems, particularly in the field of cooperation between swarms of autonomous flying robots (drones). He is the head of the Multi-Robot Systems (MRS) research group, which is among the world leaders in the field of autonomous drones and their deployment in real-world conditions. His research has significant overlap with industrial and security applications and is behind a number of successful technology demonstrations, awards, and spin-off activities. Prof. Saska is the author of dozens of highly cited publications in prestigious international journals and conferences and has long been involved in educating a new generation of top experts in robotics.
