Doc. Milan Polívka awarded the Vice-Dean's Award for PhD-authored Papers in Top Journals to Ing. Adam Kubín, a doctoral student at the Department of Economics, Management, and Humanities FEE CTU. The award supports outstanding scientific outputs by doctoral students at supported departments who are the main authors of publications with significant scientific contribution published in the world's best journals.

The award-winning article A long-term energy transition planning model for a district heating and cooling sector incorporating sector coupling approach: A case study of the Czech district heating and cooling sector was published in the journal Energy Conversion and Management, which is in the first quartile according to the WoS IF database.

The study, on which Ing. Kubín collaborated as the first author with Prof. Jaroslav Knápek and Dr. N. Koltsaklis, deals with long-term planning for the transformation of the heating industry in the context of European decarbonization. The authors present a new optimization model that links the national energy concept with sectoral management, economic efficiency, legislative goals, and technical constraints. The model demonstrates how flexible technologies linking the electricity and heating sectors can support not only decarbonization but also the stability of the electricity system.

The award is accompanied by a financial reward of up to CZK 100,000 for publication in a journal ranked in the first decile according to the WoS IF database.

Congratulations to Adam Kubín on this significant scientific achievement!
