The theme of this year’s conference is “Engineering Education for Humanity in a Challenging World.” Today, many problems are complex and interdisciplinary in nature, and the solutions often require not only technical expertise but also an understanding of social and ethical contexts, so that they are socially responsible and sustainable in the long term. It is therefore important to prepare future engineers for this dimension of their work already during their studies.
“SEFI 2026 will provide a forum for approximately six hundred experts from across Europe and beyond to come together and discuss the role of engineering education in addressing societal challenges. We believe that Prague and the Czech Technical University will offer an ideal setting for sharing new ideas, fostering international collaboration, and exploring ways to develop engineering education for the benefit of society as a whole,” said Prof. Jan Vrba from FEE CTU, Chair of the SEFI 2026 Annual Conference.
Individual conference contributions and the overall programme will be divided into 18 conference tracks, including, for example, digital tools and AI in engineering education, international cooperation in engineering education, sustainability and society in engineering, and many others. Everyone with an interest in engineering education is thus sure to find a topic of relevance.
The conference accepts four types of submissions: research papers, practice papers, workshop proposals, and idea market presentations. These may be submitted for review as of now. Authors have until 1st April 2026 to do so. Only complete papers will be accepted; abstracts alone will not be considered. The conference organisers have also ruled out the possibility of a second submission round. All information regarding submissions and related key dates can be found on the conference website.
Conference registration will open on 1st March 2026 as an early bird registration, where early registration guarantees a reduced registration fee. Interested participants are therefore encouraged to register as soon as possible. The early bird period will end on 3rd July 2026, after which the fee will increase. In addition to the scientific programme, the conference fee also includes a range of social events, including the Gala dinner, providing an opportunity to establish new partnerships in research-based engineering education. Alternatively, it is possible to opt for the so-called “academic” fee, which includes both the scientific programme and the Welcome reception.
