TEPRVE discussion evening connects students with projects in the fields of AI, software, and robotics

Hardware, software, AI, or rockets. Students can sign up for the TEPRVE event with any technical topic and give a 15-minute presentation to their classmates. Or they can just come and listen to what their peers are working on.

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the fifth TEchnický PRezentační VEčer (TEPRVE) will take place at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague at Karlovo náměstí (KN:A-214). During the event, students will present topics or projects they are working on as part of their school and extracurricular activities. In addition to students from the CTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering (most often participants in the Open Informatics and Cybernetics and Robotics programs), regular participants also include students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University and the Czech University of Life Sciences. The event is open to everyone.

"It's a great motivational and inspiring opportunity to see what fellow students are doing and also a good opportunity to get to know each other. There is a very friendly atmosphere at the event, and I know from my own experience that even people who came as listeners actively participated in interesting debates," said event organizer Ondřej Baštař, a student in the master's program in Cybernetics and Robotics (KYR) at FEE CTU.

According to him, the event is even more beneficial for the student speakers, as they can try out what it is like to speak in front of a larger audience and improve their skills. At the same time, they are not limited in terms of topics. Even those who have no previous experience with public speaking are given a chance. “At each TEPRVE event, approximately half of the speakers are appearing in front of such a large crowd for the first time. And they all praise it as an interesting experience, even though public speaking is challenging in itself," said Baštař.

Each lecture is allocated 15 minutes. Those who do not want to use the full time limit, or who decide to give a lecture at the last minute on the spot, can also take advantage of the so-called lightning talk. All you have to do is write your name on the board at the event and you will be given three to five minutes to quickly present your topic.

Using interdisciplinary inspiration in your own projects

Between lectures, during which the audience can enjoy refreshments, there is room for further discussion. During the break, listeners usually find the speakers and continue to talk to them about their topics. Gradually, several groups of debating students are formed. According to the event organizer, the desire for discussion is usually greater than the main event time (from 5:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) allows, so the debates then move to restaurants.

The main goal of Technical Presentation Evenings is to connect students working on similar projects. “At the last TEPRVE, Jakub Jon gave a lecture on his TBAI robot control system. After his lecture, several other students immediately thought about how they could use it in their projects and got together. And maybe it will lead somewhere,” said Baštař.

You can watch recordings of the lectures given at TEPRVE on the association's website. You can also register for the event on the same website. The deadline for speakers who want to participate in the next lecture evening is February 28, 2026. Audience members must also register, mainly because of the refreshments prepared by the organizers.
