FEE CTU lights up colorful lines as part of Rare Disease Day

For graduates For students For applicants For employees

On the last day of February (this year on Saturday, February 28), the whole world will commemorate the fate of those living with rare diseases. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague joins the chain of lights that will be lit as a sign of support for these patients, their families, and all healthcare professionals who care for them.

According to the Czech Association for Rare Diseases, 300 million people worldwide suffer from rare diseases, including 500,000 people in the Czech Republic. A large proportion of these are children. Patients often lack timely and accurate diagnoses, quality information about the disease and its treatment, and specialized doctors. Not only patients, but also their families who care for them, often encounter a lack of understanding.

On the last day of February, the whole world commemorates the fate of these people on Rare Disease Day, which is also dedicated to caring doctors and healthcare professionals. As an expression of solidarity, buildings are lit up in pink, light green, light blue, and purple, the colors that symbolize this day.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague will express its support by lighting up colored lines on the side wall of the building at Technická 2 in Dejvice, which were created at the Institute of Intermedia of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University.

Anyone can join the campaign to support people with rare diseases. You can also contribute a small amount to a specific child's story on the campaign's special website.
