The International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO) holds a conference every year, but the upcoming edition, organized this time by the Department of Measurement at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, is unique in two ways: its thematic focus and the opportunity to speak with just an abstract.
The independent federation of organizations IMEKO brings together individual Technical Committees (TC) that focus on specific areas within measurement and metrology and operate independently. TC4, which includes scientists from the Department of Measurement at FEE CTU, focuses on electrical quantities, while TC11 focuses on testing and diagnostics.
"For the first time ever, the conference brings together two areas of measurement and metrology, namely the measurement of electrical quantities and testing and diagnostics. Experts from the technical sections TC4 and TC11 will meet," said Associate Professor Jakub Svatoš from the Department of Measurement at CTU, who is the main organizer.
The conference will cover a wide range of topics, from instrumentation for electrical and magnetic quantities, through advanced sensors and signal processing, to applications in energy systems, electromobility, industrial automation, and new technologies. The involvement of TC11 will add topics related to testing, inspection, and certification in the electrical engineering sector.
Abstract as a conference contribution
The conference will offer another advantage to those who, for whatever reason, do not want to or cannot present a full paper, which will be compiled into a proceedings. A single-page abstract can also be submitted as a conference contribution, which will then be presented by the speakers and will not be included in the proceedings.
"This is an ideal option, for example, for doctoral students who need to fulfill their obligation to attend a conference. Or for those who want to save publication in an impacted journal for another opportunity," explained Doc. Svatoš. In addition, extended invited contributions will be published in special issues of journals indexed in WoS, ACTA IMEKO (Q4), and Measurement (Q1).
Registration for speakers is now open, with the deadline for registration being March 31.
To participate in the conference, the organizers are launching registration in the so-called early bird mode, where early registration guarantees a reduction in the registration fee. It is therefore worthwhile for those interested to register for the conference as soon as possible. Students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague who wish to attend the conference as listeners can register for free.
The conference fee includes refreshments and a social program suitable for finding partners for scientific and educational cooperation. Further information, including important dates, can be found on the conference website.
