OpenLab FEL CTU: Visit cutting-edge laboratories linked to the EEM programme

For students

Are you considering studying the Master’s program in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering and Management (EEM)? Come to OpenLab, which will take place on Thursday, May 14, between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM at the FEE and in the Building A of CIIRC in Prague–Dejvice.

The program will feature guided tours of the cutting-edge laboratories where technological solutions for current and future electrical engineering and energy systems are developed.

"This year’s edition will take the form of organized tours in smaller groups. Participants will gradually visit selected laboratories, where students and lecturers will introduce not only the technologies used, but also specific research projects and practical applications,” said Bc. Terezie Klášterková, a Master’s student in the EEM program, on behalf of the organizing team.

The event is primarily intended for second-year students of the Bachelor’s program in EEM, but students from other years are also welcome to attend. Capacity is limited and registration is required.

Visitors will, for example, get a glimpse into laboratories focused on thin films and silicon structures, where modern materials used in electronics are studied. Another part of the exhibition focuses on measurement technology, including a dielectric spectroscope for analyzing material properties in an electric field. There will also be a visit to the high-voltage diagnostics laboratory, where equipment operating under high voltage is tested.

"The program will also include visits to laboratories that connect electrical engineering with other fields, such as the LVR + 3DP Lab (Laboratory for Research and Realization combined with 3D printing). Those interested in energy will appreciate the Battery Lab, focused on the research and testing of battery systems. We will also present the Laboratory of Electric Drives and their control, which play a key role in modern industry and transportation," added Terezie Klášterková. The tours will also include the Laboratory of Environmental Electrotechnics and Economics, which links technical solutions with principles of sustainability.

At around 6:00 PM, the tours will be followed by an informal gathering on the rooftop of the CTU Rectorate (Penthouse).
