The International POSTER Conference Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary – With a Record Number of Posters

For students

The international POSTER conference will kick off on Thursday, May 14. It provides university students with an opportunity to present their research work and establish professional connections. This year, a record number of presenters have registered. The best posters will be awarded by an expert jury in seven categories. The event, which is also open to the professional public, will take place at the FEE CTU in Dejvice. A detailed program is available here.

"We have 74 submissions this year, which is 14 more than last year," said Dr. Libor Husník, the conference’s main organizer from the Department of Radioelectronics at the FEE CTU. Interest in the conference has grown significantly in recent years—for example, 49 posters were registered the year before last.

POSTER will traditionally offer seven categories covering biomedical engineering, natural sciences, history of science and technology, informatics and cybernetics, communications, power engineering, electronics and instrumentation, and natural sciences. The largest number of submissions—19—falls within the biomedical engineering section, while the second highest number, 13, relates to the history of science and technology. A list of posters is available here.

"A new feature will be the possibility to present work in progress—that is, not results, but the topic itself. Such work will not be included in the proceedings,” Dr. Husník noted. The organizers introduced this format to provide more space for raising awareness of ongoing research, sharing ideas, exchanging feedback, and discussing the challenges associated with the presented projects. For the second year in a row, the conference will also include an Elevator Pitch format—three-minute presentations by ten selected students, which will take place in meeting room No. 80.

In addition to local students, this year’s POSTER will also welcome presenters from abroad—for example, from universities in Aachen, Padua, Darmstadt, Hamburg, Graz, as well as Bratislava and Žilina.
