The program will also include a ceremonial signing of a cooperation agreement and the continuation of the double-degree program between CTU and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), which will further expand the long-term partnership between the two institutions in the fields of semiconductors, microelectronics, and integrated circuit design. The workshop will be attended by representatives of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Prague, CTU leadership, the dean of the CTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the CEO and experts from the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI), the director of the ACDRC (Advanced Chip Design Research Center), and representatives from Brno University of Technology (BUT) and Masaryk University.
The main part of the program will be devoted to presentations of joint Czech-Taiwanese research projects. Research teams will present the results of their collaboration in the areas of next-generation neuromorphic transistors, secure RISC-V chip platforms, diamond semiconductor structures, silicon photonics, sensor technology, and energy-autonomous IoT devices. Researchers from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) at CTU are collaborating on these projects with leading experts from Taiwanese universities and research institutions.
“Taiwan is among the world leaders in semiconductor technologies and represents a strategic partner for FEE CTU. Joint projects with institutions such as TSRI or NTUST allow us to advance research ranging from chip design to sensors and photonic technologies, while also preparing students for the needs of the rapidly growing semiconductor industry,” says Prof. Jiří Jakovenko from the Department of Microelectronics at FEL CTU, who serves as the coordinator and academic supervisor of the Taiwanese projects at CTU.
The afternoon session will also feature presentations of projects supported by the Taiwanese ACDRC center, focused, for example, on the automation of analog integrated circuit design using machine learning or the development of processors with built-in artificial intelligence for automotive applications.
The workshop builds on the long-standing collaboration between the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEL) at CTU and Taiwanese partners in the field of semiconductor technologies. The faculty actively participates in the activities of the CTU–TSRI Joint Research Center and the newly established Czech Semiconductor Center, and is developing joint projects with leading Taiwanese universities and research organizations.
