The competition is open to current students and recent graduates of higher education institutions in the Czech Republic. Authors of the best theses will receive financial awards: CZK 30,000 for first place, CZK 20,000 for second place and CZK 10,000 for third place. Shortlisted participants will also have the opportunity to present their research to an audience of experts, receive valuable feedback and build new professional connections.
Although the competition primarily focuses on environmental issues from a social sciences perspective, students from technical disciplines are also encouraged to apply. Every year, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague produces a wide range of high-quality Bachelor's and Master's theses covering topics such as renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, sustainable technologies, energy economics and the environmental impacts of technological solutions.
Applications are open until 30 September 2026. The final round of the competition will take place on 25 November 2026 at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, which organises the competition.
