In Robotic Competition, teams of three program robots built using LEGO Mindstorms and Brian kits, developed at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague (FEE CTU). This year’s challenge is inspired by the classic game of dominoes.
"The goal is to program a robot to independently move as many domino pieces as possible into the yellow-marked rectangle within the 90-second time limit, and to try to correctly line up as many domino pieces as possible one after another, potentially forming a closed shape. Black guiding lines are marked on the playing field to make navigation easier," explained the competition’s main organizer, Dr. Martin Hlinovský from the Department of Control Engineering at FEE CTU.
During the competition, teams are not allowed to assist their robots using voice commands, Bluetooth, or any other communication channels. Detailed information about the challenge will be published on the Robotic Competition website by October 5 at the latest. Even now, prospective participants can find a range of detailed organizational information on the website.
The four preliminary rounds will take place on November 24, 25, 26, and 27 in the Zenger Lecture Hall at FEE CTU in Charles Square, Prague. The eight best teams from each round will advance to the final. In addition, the expert jury may award so-called wild cards to up to eight more teams. The final will take place on Friday, December 11, in the same lecture hall.
Participants will compete for attractive prizes, and the top contestants will also receive an advantage in the FEE CTU admissions process. The competition also offers valuable experience and networking opportunities—and perhaps even the chance to make new friends.
Robotic Competition is held under the auspices of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague and its general partner, BTL Medical Development. Other partners include MathWorks, HUMUSOFT, Škoda Auto, FANUC, SICK, Strand, Applifting, and Espressif Systems.
