Face interpretation problems

  • Branch of study: Computer Science – Department of Cybernetics
  • Department: Department of Cybernetics
    • Description:
Understanding the human face is a crucial capability for AI systems. The interpretation of facial images encompasses a broad range of challenges, including e.g., identity, gender, and expression recognition; emotion prediction; age estimation; cognitive load analysis; fatigue detection; and gaze tracking. Additionally, it involves tasks such as 3D reconstruction, super-resolution, and tracking. Furthermore, generative models play a significant role in various applications, such as face reenactment and hairstyle transfer. While the field has made significant progress in recent years, many open problems remain to be explored. A particular challenge explored in the thesis is the integration of analytical and generative models.
