The exact assignment will be posted on the Robocompetition website no later than October 3. However, you can find it now at the following link (https://robosoutez.fel.cvut.cz/zadani-soutezni-ulohy-vez-tower-ver01). The competition is sponsored by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, partners are MathWorks, Humusoft, Škoda Auto and Applifting.
The task of the three-member high school teams will be to build a robot from LEGO® MINDSTORMS® so that it fulfills the given competition task in the best possible way. The robots will compete in four separate rounds - on Tuesday 21 November 2023, Wednesday 22 November 2023, Thursday 23 November 2023 and Friday 24 November 2023.
The top eight teams from each round will then participate in the final competition in the Robots course in the Cybernetics and Robotics undergraduate programme. Up to eight teams may be awarded a wild card by the main competition organiser (or delegated representative).
The robots will build a tower
The goal of this year's challenge is to build and program a robot to independently, without any other help, pick up as many colored cubes as possible from the competition area (playground) and place them in a yellow marked rectangle on the playing field, while simultaneously building the tallest tower possible out of these colored cubes. For easier orientation, black guide lines are marked on the field.
The number of points scored will decide the winner. The robot receives points for the way it places the coloured cubes inside the yellow rectangle. Most of the competition will be organized as a mutual match between two robots on two separate pitches, which you can see in the picture.
