Students received prizes for their works at the Semestrale exhibition

For graduates For students

The best works created in the winter semester in the Graphic Design and 3D Modelling courses were awarded at the Department of Computer Graphics and Interaction of the FEE CTU FELU. The prizes were presented on Tuesday, 18 March, by the academic painter Lucie Svobodová, who teaches Graphic Design, and the head of the department, Professor Jiří Žára. At the same time, they opened the exhibition of the works of SEMESTRALE XXVI, which can be seen in the department's corridors on the 3rd floor of building E on Charles Square.

In his introduction, Professor Jiří Žára noted that both the Graphic Design and 3D modelling courses have been steadily enjoying great interest among students. While the Graphic Design course can be enrolled in the winter and summer semesters, 3D modelling is taught only in the winter semester.

Grigorios Líbal, a third-year student in the Software Engineering and Technology (SIT) programme, received the award for the best 3D render.

"I study SIT and focus on virtual reality," said Líbal, adding that he has been interested in graphics for a long time. "I started trying something in high school, but I didn't get into 3D modeling until study at the university," Líbal summarized, adding that he eventually got interested in it. His award-winning work was also used to promote the exhibition.

The prize for Graphic Design was awarded to Sofiia Fedorchuk, who is studying in the 2nd year of the Open Informatics (OI) programme, specialising in Computer Games. "I've been drawing as long as I've known myself," said Fedorchuk. She noted that the culture and traditions of Ukraine, where she is from, inspired her to create her winning artwork. You can see her work here.

The prize for best drawing went to Laura Kateřina Dudková, a student of Open Informatics. "I have been drawing since I was a little girl. And I have been drawing with a pencil for a long time. I enjoy both drawing and creating anything else similar. That's why I chose to specialize in Computer Graphics and Video Games.  I would like to work as a game developer - and therefore create as part of my work," described the laureate, who has three of her works in the exhibition.

Jan Procházka, a student of Computer Graphics at the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT), won silver for his drawing. Štěpánka Šípová, a student of the same field, came second in the Graphic Design category. Kateřina Špotová, who won second place for 3D rendering, is studying Open Informatics at the FEE CTU.

Music was not missing at the opening either. The concert was performed by musician and singer Kristýna Větévka.
