New professors Jiří Bittner and Miroslav Bureš from FEE CTU received their appointment decrees from President Petr Pavel

On Monday, June 16, 2025, Czech President Petr Pavel, together with the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Mikuláš Bek, appointed 87 new professors. Two new professors from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU, Prof. Jiří Bittner from the Department of Computer Graphics and Interaction and Prof. Miroslav Bureš from the Department of Computer Science, personally received their appointment decrees in the Great Hall of Prague's Karolinum.

On the occasion of the ceremony, Minister Mikuláš Bek said: "I consider the appointment of new professors to be an important moment for the entire academic community and society. It is a recognition of long-term scientific and pedagogical work that strengthens the quality of Czech higher education. The academic excellence to which these experts contribute is key to the development of an educated and democratic society."

Profiles of the new professors

prof. Ing. Jiří Bittner, Ph.D.

Prof. Jiří Bittner works at the Department of Computer Graphics and Interaction at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, where he has long been involved in research in the field of computer graphics, particularly the rendering of large 3D scenes and data structures for ray tracing methods. In the past, he has completed research stays at prestigious institutions such as TU Vienna in Austria and MPI Informatik in Germany. He is the author of dozens of articles published at leading conferences such as SIGGRAPH, Eurographics, Symposium on Interactive 3D Graphics and Games, and High Performance Graphics.

prof. Ing. Miroslav Bureš, Ph.D.

Prof. Miroslav Bureš works at the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, where he is engaged in research in the field of software engineering, reliability and security of critical systems, technologies for integrated rescue systems and telemedicine, and applications of artificial intelligence. He is the founder and head of the System Testing IntelLigent Lab (STILL) research group, which focuses on designing methods for testing complex software and electronic systems in areas such as the automotive industry, rescue systems, and military and civil healthcare, including the resilience of these systems against new types of attacks and threats. The results of his work are also used in international projects and industrial cooperation.
