Description:
Statistical relational learning (SRL) studies complex probabilistic models, for instance models of molecules or biological and social networks. Inference and learning in most SRL models is computationally intractable. The topic of the thesis is to develop new methods for tractable inference and learning: either approximate methods that work well in practice or exact methods that work on subclasses of tractable SRL models (and by doing so to also identify new tractable subclasses).
