LoRa as a complement to the existing access system infrastructure

    Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) play an important role in the Internet of Things (IoT). For smart buildings, they provide a convenient way to collect data from sensors and control electronic devices in and around buildings. This paper describes a solution in which the existing access system infrastructure, based on the RS485 protocol, is extended by the LoRa wireless sensor network, sensor nodes for temperature and humidity measurement and the LoRa communication gateway. Operational measurements on one floor of the CTU in Prague block show that depending on the data rate used in the RS485 network and the data rate reserve used, which precedes the failure of the access system control function, it is possible to operate tens to hundreds of sensor nodes simultaneously transmitting their data. The results show that WSN can be used effectively in the existing RS485 infrastructure.

Revealing Viber Communication Patterns to Assess Protocol Vulnerability

    Viber is a proprietary communication protocol growing in popularity, on mobile devices especially. It represents a trend of replacing traditional protocols with proprietary messaging applications, employing cloud infrastructure support. It also constitutes a challenge to the networking community due to its unknown properties and opaque and highly distributed nature. We present observations-based analysis of the protocol function, topology, communication patterns and vulnerabilities, derived from traffic captures by simple data mining.

    Asymmetric cryptography is still very interesting field of research. Several algorithms have been proposed as a competition to the RSA standard. In this paper we will describe one of these algorithms, based on Elliptic Curves. We will briefly describe the basics of Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) and its variants using polynomial and normal basis and affine and projection coordinates. Further, we will describe our hardware framework used to evaluate all possible combinations.
