    A Diploma thesis recently defended at the FEE CTU and its conclusions have led authors of this short comment to several questions: Can consumers be asked to make their decisions based on the excessive number of quality marks, knowing just little about their meaning and origin? Do customers have the right to expect the product they are buying to always be of good quality and to live in a carefree idea of that being so? Do users of quality marks analyze the costs and benefits related?

    A number of reporting guidelines, standards and specifications have been developed to serve for assessment and certification of the Corporate social responsibility. Main focus of the article is the IQNet SR 10 specification and the approach of the Czech National program of conformity assessment of the corporate social responsibility management system.

    Quality marks focus on customers. Recently, there are many quality marks in the market of goods and services in the Czech Republic. Some of them result from the activity of producers and others are result of activity of independent providers or government. The situation in this market from the customers point of view is chaotic and the role of government is rather insufficient. The aim of this article is to explain the above mentioned situation and identify possible outcomes.
