Acoustic and thermal properties of recycled materials and neomaterials

  • Branch of study: Acoustics
  • Department: Department of Physics
    • Description:
The focus on sustainability in building renovation and maintenance includes implementing sustainable materials based on recycled resources. The acoustic and thermal properties of these materials are crucial for comfort and energy efficiency. Some transient methods such as the Hot-Disk (THD) or the novel Hot-Bridge (THB) will be used to assess simultaneously both thermal conductivity and heat capacity. For acoustic parameters impedance tube methods will be used to evaluate sound absorption as well as sound transmission coefficients. The thermal properties will be studied mainly at the University of Brescia, while the acoustic parameters will be evaluated mainly at the CTU.

Acoustic parameters of space – measurements, modeling, design

  • Branch of study: Acoustics
  • Department: Department of Physics
    • Description:
The topic is focused on evaluation and design of spaces for various purposes. Modeling and measurement of new room acoustic parameters will lead to recommendations for acoustic designers as well as for cataloguing of selected spaces. Further information can be obtained from supervisor. http://fyzika.feld.cvut.cz/index.php?_mli=jc&_uid=21

Active control of sound and vibrations – Active structural acoustics control

  • Branch of study: Acoustics
  • Department: Department of Physics
    • Description:
Within this topic students will focus on development of active system for control of radiation from vibrating bodies including design of appropriate transducers and corresponding signal processing. Further information can be obtained from supervisor. http://fyzika.feld.cvut.cz/index.php?_mli=jc&_uid=21

Development of new method for remote acoustic measurements of large building envelope structures

  • Branch of study: Acoustics
  • Department: Department of Physics
    • Description:
This PhD focuses on the method for remote acoustic measurements of large building envelope structures with special emphasis on ETFE cushion systems, and fits in the framework of the ACTAREBUILD EU - DN - project. The actual standardized measurement and evaluation methods for building elements are not suitable for large structured inhomogeneous façades as glass or plastic curtain façades. The main goal of this PhD is to find suitable methods for measuring this type of façades, which would be applicable in both the laboratory and remote measurement in situ.

Precise measurements in acoustics – radiation characteristics, diffraction, measurements in anechoic room

  • Branch of study: Acoustics
  • Department: Department of Physics
    • Description:
This framework topic covers all new measurement techniques for evaluation of radiation characteristics of sound sources or characterization of various sound fields. Further information can be obtained from supervisor. http://fyzika.feld.cvut.cz/index.php?_mli=jc&_uid=21

Subjective and objective sound quality evaluation

  • Branch of study: Acoustics
  • Department: Department of Physics
    • Description:
This topic is focused on objective methods of evaluation of sound quality of various products. These methods are supported by subjective evaluation methods. Further information can be obtained from supervisor. http://fyzika.feld.cvut.cz/index.php?_mli=jc&_uid=21
