Failure Detection, Isolation and Recovery in Emergency Flight Planning for Aerospace Applications

  • Branch of study: Aeronautical and Space Engineering
  • Department: Department of Computer Science
    • Description:
The research is focused on detection of airplane system failures which can influence safety of the flight. Pilot’s decisions are based on information provided by cockpit instruments which relays on sensors and data processing. In case of an emergency situation caused by engine failure the pilot is supposed to find a suitable place for landing. The research aims on definition of sensor set which is necessary for successful path planning with emphasis on new solutions and sensors which will overcome performance of MEMS sensors in terms of precision and will be cheaper than laser based systems (e.g. RLG sensors).
