Lady with a burning heart and a clear mind

  • Department: Department of Economics, Management and Humanities
  • Annotation:
Madam Zdislava - as we Dominicans like to call her - was born around 1220. So it could be 800 years that a girl grew up not only into a charming young lady, but also into the faithful daughter of St. Dominica.

Societa and social responsibility of companies

  • Department: Department of Economics, Management and Humanities
  • Annotation:
The social responsibility of a company causes its management to think more broadly in therms of 'we' rather than 'I'. This principle requires taking responsibility for anything which can be directly or indirectly influenced by the activity of the company. CSR identifies three such areas, which may be influenced by business activity: economic, social and environmental.

  • Annotation:
The article starts with charting the history of spiritual counseling at CTU in Prague and searches for an optimal tool for the pastoral care of university students. The starting point are the experiences of other universities in Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia, but also from foreign universities in Europe and the United States (U.S.). Academic parish established for the academic community is a frequently used model in the Czech Republic and especially in the world. The model has its indisputable benefits both in practical as well as legal terms. The establishment of an academic parish for the academic community here at CTU in Prague thus seems appropriate and also useful from pastoral point of view.

  • Authors: Ing. ThMgr. Vladimír Slámečka, Ph.D.,
  • Publication: Nový humanizmus - výzva pre univerzitu. Badín: Kňazský seminársv. Františka Xaverského, 2010, pp. 70-77. ISBN 978-80-88937-45-6.
  • Year: 2010
  • Department: Department of Economics, Management and Humanities
  • Annotation:
The proceedings called "New Humanism - A call for university" bring studies from many fields from scientific and educational life. These studies talk of an effort of the university educators to rediscover and reintroduce to life origins from which the university as such arose. The matter in hand are intelectually-spiritual roots, which are frequently neglected within the hurried analysis of human knowledge at modern universities nowadays. On the other hand, contributions of each author point out the fact that the essence of a university is to lead its teachers and students to synthetic thinking. Such a thinking then necessarily leads to a morally-spiritual connotation. The university must become a place of a spiritual and moral renewal of a nation. That is as a matter of fact its indisputable mission from the very beginning.
