International Student Conference on Sensors, Systems and Measurements Offers the Opportunity to Earn Points for Scientific Activities and Cash Prizes

For students

The second edition of the student conference is approaching. Undergraduate, engineering and PhD students can now submit papers in the field of sensors, systems and measurements. The conference will take place on June 15-16 June 2023 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU. Applications can be submitted until April 14th.

One of the aims of the event is for students to try to present their research at a conference with all that it entails, including getting suggestions for further discussion. In addition, a cash prize awaits the speakers with the best paper. Participation in the conference is completely free of charge.

"The conference will be divided into several sections. At the beginning of each one, an industry partner of the respective area will lead a lecture. This can help students in making decisions about their future professional life and, at the same time, they can directly establish important connections in their field," described the main organizer of the student conference, Dr. Jakub Svatoš from the Department of Measurement at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU.

The main topics of the conference are sensors, measuring systems, diagnostics and testing. Subsequent sessions bear the following titles:

  • Sensors, Materials and its Applications
  • Measurement of Electrical and Non-electrical Quantities
  • Instrumentation and Measurement Systems
  • Testing and Diagnostics
  • Signal Processing
  • System Identification and Control

The output of the conference will be conference proceedings in which participants will have the opportunity to publish their contributions. Publication in the proceedings is counted as a so-called bibliometric result of scientific activity, for which the authors receive valuable points in the Results Information Register (RIV). However, publication in the proceedings is not a requirement.

The first edition of the conference in 2021 was held online. Speakers included students from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, China, Taiwan and South Africa. This year, it is also a requirement to present your papers in English. However, this time the participants will meet to present their contributions to the conference in person, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU. For non-Prague participants, the organizers offer the possibility of discounted accommodation, at Masaryk College for about 40 euros per night.

The deadline for applications is April 14th. You can apply on the conference website: https://scssm.fel.cvut.cz/
