FEE CTU will show a balancing robot at ScienceFest, you can also try a formula simulator or soldering

For applicants

ScienceFest will take place on Vítězné náměstí in Prague on 19 June! The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the CTU (FEE) will again participate in a rich programme for children and adults. What will you enjoy this year?

The novelty at our site will be directed by scientists from the Department of Measurement at FEE. "We will present interesting projects, including a balancing robot built from Open Cube and components from Lego Mindstorms," said Dr. Tomáš Drábek. "Our department is developing the Open Cube as an alternative controller, compatible with sensors and motors from both the NXT and EV3 kits. "As a demonstration of practical and educational thesis work, we will showcase a magnetic levitator and a simple acoustic pulse event detector. We will show you a sample of our projects and answer your questions," added Dr. Drábek.

Members of the wITches, which popularises IT and electrical engineering in primary schools, will introduce you to programming mini robots called ozobots. "wITches will have a stand where children can make their own magic wand and now also a glowing ozobot. During the process, children will learn about electrical components such as LEDs, resistors, flashlights, and switches. They will try to power the entire circuit for the wand or the ozobot themselves. And let's not forget the ozobots that are still looking for the right way out of the maze," said Margarita Tkachenko on behalf of the association.

Also at the ScienceFest, if the weather allows, you can get a photo with your hair "fired up" by the Van de Graaff generator, which will charge you to 10,000 volts. The programme will also involve the student team eForce Prague Formula, which is developing an autonomous electric vehicle at our faculty and racing it on European tracks. "At ScienceFest, you can easily recognize us by the racing monopod we will be exhibiting and also by the simulator. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore every detail of our formula and then experience what it is like to drive a race car in the simulator and feel like a real pilot for a while," said Jakub Kaplický on behalf of the team.

There will also be a popular mini-course on soldering components, where you can make an original souvenir under the guidance of students from the +/-FEL club. And even the youngest visitors can design and make their badge.

Visit us. We look forward to seeing you!
