Electronics and Communications (EK)

The study programme Electronics and Communication (EK) emphasises theoretical and practical knowledge in electronic systems, communication technologies and networks, audiovisual technology and signal processing. Graduates of this programme can not only invent, but also design electronic systems and sophisticated devices and put them into operation with the help of logical reasoning. That is why they are in such high demand across the engineering disciplines.

Top-level informatics

There is currently a strong demand for information technology professionals, which will continue for some time to come, given current trends. Knowing how to program is now an essential engineering skill. In the EK programme you will learn to understand the functional principles of electronic components, which will facilitate your study of computer science.

Deepening of electrical engineering

Technology is moving forward by leaps and bounds, and what is modern today may be prehistoric tomorrow. Students in the EC programme are systematically taught to keep up with the times, adapt to change at lightning speed and respond appropriately. In the EK program, you will experience testing circuits, designing circuit boards, and building prototypes.

Detailed knowledge of communication technologies

The EK offers its students excellent job prospects, extensive knowledge, and many study opportunities. As a result of the studies, you will gain broad theoretical understanding and practical insight into electronic systems, communication technologies and networks, audiovisual technology, and signal processing.

What you will learn

  • Master the procedures for efficient processing and analysis of different types of signals and modulations,
  • process audio and video - understand individual systems as an interconnected whole,
  • detailed knowledge of wired and wireless communication technologies - e.g., individual radio or optical components, 
  • optimise the network and direct the data flow to higher layers of communication.

Learning style

We focus on both theory and practice. You will soon get to the practical tasks at EK from the necessary theory. We equip students with the knowledge to design electronic systems and construct electronic devices or their components, as well as knowledge of the functional principles of electronic components and integrated circuits.

You'll apply your knowledge of physics to design particular technologies - electronic systems, communications technologies and networks, audio-visual equipment, and signal processing - that will help people for many years to come.
