Characteristics of EEM study programme

The Electrical Engineering, Energy and Management (EEM) study programme emphasises theoretical knowledge and practical insight in electricity production and consumption, electromobility and electrical machines. Graduates of this programme can not only invent, but also design electronic systems and sophisticated devices and put them into operation with the help of logical reasoning. That is why they are in such high demand across the engineering disciplines.

Top-level informatics

There is currently a strong demand for information technology professionals, which will continue for some time to come, given current trends. Knowing how to program is now an essential engineering skill. In the EEM programme, you will learn to understand the functional principles of electronic components, which will facilitate your study of computer science.

Deepening knowledge of electrical engineering

Technology is moving forward in leaps and bounds, and what is modern today may be prehistoric tomorrow. Students in the EEM programme are systematically taught to understand the laws of electrical engineering, materials and machines, and build on a sound foundation of mathematics and physics to understand the principles of electricity generation, transmission and subsequent use.

Career in electrical engineering and network development

EEM study programme offers students an excellent job perspective, extensive knowledge, and many study opportunities. As a result of your studies, you will have a broad theoretical knowledge and a practical outlook that will enable you to work in design, engineering, or analytical positions in energy companies, where you will be prepared to deal with the development of electromobility and the electricity grid.

Learning style

We focus on both theory and practice. You will soon get to practical tasks based on the necessary theory. We equip students with the knowledge to design electronic systems and construct electronic devices or their components, as well as knowledge of the functional principles of electronic components and integrated circuits.

What you will learn

  • You will learn how the smart grid works, which allows you to regulate the production and consumption of electricity in real-time.
  • You will find out what challenges are involved in the development of electromobility.
  • You will learn how electricity is generated and transmitted.
  • You are familiar with the types and behaviour of electrical machines, inverters and drives.
  • You will become familiar with the processes of controlling the operation and generation of power in power plants.
  • You will focus on the economic issues of the power industry - pricing, hedging, emission allowances, etc.

Career in energy industry

With a master's degree in EEM, you can fill operational engineering positions in a power plant or financial analytical positions in energy companies. You will be prepared to deal with the development of electromobility and the electricity grid in managerial positions and will have an advantage in understanding technical and economic issues.

Two branches

The EEM study programme is divided into two specialisations - one technical and the other technical-economic. You will gain knowledge of electrical engineering, materials, and machinery in both specializations. With a solid foundation in mathematics and physics, you will understand the principles of energy production, transmission, and use. In addition, you will learn how electricity trading works in the economic specialization.

What else does EEM study programme offer?

  • Opportunity to join research groups that address electromobility, power generation and consumption, and the production of electric inverters and drives.
  • Laboratories for almost all specialist subjects offer the opportunity to try things you would otherwise struggle to access.
  • There is less emphasis on programming. However, anyone with no prior knowledge can learn the basics of programming in the first few semesters.
